Known internationally as "The City Different," Santa Fe attracts over 1.5 million visitors every year. From its historic buildings and museums, through its world class opera and art galleries, to its astounding natural beauty that thrills hikers & skiers, campers & fishermen, Santa Fe has something to offer everyone.
This high desert city offers cool nights, year-round, with half a dozen snowfalls a year between November and April, but 300+ days of sunshine each year. Yearly events include the Santa Fe Air Show & Rodeo de Santa Fe in June, August's Indian Market, Spanish Market, Santa Fe Arts & Crafts Fair, the burning of Zozobra during the Fiestas de Santa Fe in Septemmber, and the Canyon Road Farolito Walk on Christmas Eve. Locals & visitors alike love the skiing, as well the hundreds of cultural attractions and events.
Settled by the Pueblo Indians over 600 years ago, and by the Spanish in 1598, Santa Fe's picturesque adobe buildings and old-fashioned central Plaza exert tremendous charm. History buffs enjoy visits to the San Miguel Mission and the Palace of the Governors, The French Gothic-tyle Saint Francis Cathedral, built by Archbishop Lamy in the 1800's, and the Loretto Chapel, with its miraculous staircase. Other attractions include the State Capitol, Santa Fe Trail, El Rancho de las Golondrinas, Santa Fe Southern Railroad, Canyon Road, Sena Plaza, East De Vargas Street, Santuario de Guadalupe and the Turquoise Trail.
