| "Los Chavez" designates a rural residential area along the Rio Grande, betweenLos Lunas and
Belen. Just off Hwy. 314 (or "Old 85," as locals are likely to refer to it), the area is home to some large farms and horse properties. There are also many newer and quite luxurious homes on an acre or two, for those of the "gentleman farmer" bent, who love the lush, green valley surroundings and might want to keep a few animals or have a bountiful garden, or small orchard or vineyard. There is little business or commercial activity in the area, and residents go to nearby Belen or Los Lunas for shopping and entertainment. In fact, properties in Los Chavez actually have mailing addresses in either Los Lunas or Belen, as the area does not have a separate post office.
